Trying to escape folic acid (and bovaer) while still buying from UK supermarkets. An increasingly difficult task with so much subterfuge going on.
Starting here:

Morrisons sell one bread sourced from a private baker afa customers can know … Jason’s. Here it is:

Clearly labelled wholemeal all over the packet but it also mentions ciabatta … so I’m expecting wholemeal ciabatta:

Note Arla Foods there (bovaer peddlers). Also note the front label:

Read the fine print below. “Meets”? At this stage, I ask … do all UK food customers have to go through forensic investigation, just to ensure non-toxic nutrients, esp. when the firms show not the slightest interest in providing pure foods? Is it unreasonable to demand non subterfuge and non adulteration?

And demand it where? In the MSM? In parliament or congress? Hardly. Obviously only on socmed. What of all the other poor sods in society?
Not only Boaver and Folic acid. Try finding a soft drink without sweeteners. You'll find that even the soft drinks that you pay sugar tax on contain a small amount of sugar (hence the tax) but also include sweeteners like aspartame, acesulfame, sucralose, and others as "taste modifiers" so they can limit the amount of expensive sugar they put in the drink.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who can taste these abominations, the choice of sweetener-free drinks has drastically reduced in the past couple of years. For instance lemonade: I'm limited to Marks & Spencers and Waitrose. That's it.
Even the posh drinks like Fentimans have succumbed.
Don't get me started on the lack of choice in pubs these days. I've had to resort to drinking tap water to ensure a sweetener-free non-alcoholic option.
Have you looked at the brand Fevertree? They use sugar.
DeleteI have, but the Fevertree drinks are essentially mixers, rather than soft drinks on their own. I suppose I could try them with vodka.... Russian Standard of Course!
DeleteApologies to Mark the SS ... I went to press approve and it took your comment, could not retrieve, Mark. Oops. Sor-ry.
ReplyDeleteNo dramas.
