Are We Becoming Lawless..?

A fourth speed camera has been cut down in Cornwall in the space of a month, amid fears that vandals are copying ULEZ 'blade runners'.
The camera - located in Longdowns on the A394 between Helston and Falmouth - has been cut down at its base. It is thought the camera was cut overnight between Thursday November 16 and Friday November 17.

Well, well, well...

Fuming Mabe Parish councillor Peter Tisdale revealed there had been a couple of incidents before the cameras went up of schoolchildren being knocked down when they got off the school bus.

And who was to blame? The motorist, or the children darting out from a blind spot, I wonder?

'The reason we got these cameras in the first place is because there have been quite a few accidents with people turning into the garage,' he said. 'But there's also been couple of children knocked down getting off the school bus trying to cross the road.
'The cameras are not here for fun. They've got to be out of their tiny minds.
'Are they copycats for ULEZ? Is that what they're doing? Thinking they are doing some kind of good?
'No they're not. We're talking about public money criminal damage, we are going to put them back, they're there for a reason.'

They might also be far more expensive than a zebra crossing and instructions to pedestrians to use it...

But is this a sign. perhaps, that people have had enough being used as cash cows?

Except There's No Such Rush...

The rush to electric cars will blow a £9billion black hole in the public purse by 2030, ministers were warned yesterday.

What rush? Private buyers aren't convinced!

Experts said fuel duty receipts would fall by around this much because of the Government's 2030 ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars. Electric cars are also currently exempt from road tax, which is projected to cost the public finances hundreds of millions of pounds more.

Did anyone really believe the government would give that up? Really?

It will pile pressure on ministers to come clean about whether they will introduce new road taxes to plug the hole and about the true cost of going electric.

Why? We know whatever they say will be a lie...

Peers were also told that the 2030 cliff-edge could be counter-productive in terms of reducing carbon emissions because drivers may buy fossil fuel cars ahead of the deadline and hold onto them.

Incentives matter! They drive behaviour. How many times do we need to learn this lesson?

The Audi Connection...

A father whose disabled son was hit and killed as he attempted to cross a motorway in the aftermath of a crash has admitted to his manslaughter.
Matthew Rycroft had been drinking with family throughout the day before driving off in his Audi Q5, with his 12-year-old son, Callum, as a passenger. While driving, the 36-year-old crashed off an M62 slip exit road for the Hartshead Moor Services, in West Yorkshire.
Moments later, Callum and his father attempted to cross the motorway, in what prosecutors described as "reckless folly".

Why is it always an Audi lately..?

The son of former Rangers boss Ally McCoist should be the only person to settle a £244,000 claim over his dangerous driving, a judge has ruled.
Lord Menzies said Mr McCoist should not be required to pay any of the settlement sought by insurer Aviva following the incident involving his son Argyll seven years ago.The firm had claimed Mr McCoist, 60, was also liable because he failed to do enough to stop uninsured Argyll from driving an Audi A1.

See?!

And more to the point, where does responsibility for what your child does end?

There's Something Toxic In London, All Right...

But it's not the air, it's something that rhymes with 'air'...
A scheme charging some motorists £12.50 a day to drive in London to cut air pollution has been accused of using data that is ‘complete nonsense’. In an open letter to those opposing his plans, Mr Khan said toxic air led to the premature deaths of 4,000 Londoners each year. He said: ‘Research by Imperial College London shows Bromley has the highest premature deaths linked to air pollution with an estimated 204 lives lost in 2019.’

Ah, really?

But Bromley Council leader Colin Smith said the study commissioned by City Hall ‘chose to ignore Bromley’s much older population profile’.He said many elderly residents spent ‘their younger years in inner London experiencing the smogs and smoke-filled pubs of yesteryear’. He added: ‘It is complete nonsense.’

Like anything spouted by this jumped up little popinjay.

Around 4,000 Londoners die prematurely every year as a result of poor quality air, with those in Outer London some of the most vulnerable due to their age and therefore hardest hit. ‘Sadiq refuses to sit back and do nothing when lives are being lost and urges these local authorities to support his plans to bring cleaner air to every Londoner - wherever they live in the capital.’

Then if you really believe this, why are you telling motorists 'It's OK, pay £12.50 and you can suffocate kiddies with your exhaust all day long!'..?

They Don't Like It Up 'Em!

A New Zealand man who began drawing very large penises around the potholes in his home city of Auckland in 2018 in the hopes of attracting the attention of his local council has been...

Given the freedon of the city? Showered with praise by motorists?

...threatened with police action.
Ah. Of course..
Upson received a call from police last week, following a complaint over the his graffiti, the New Zealand Herald reported, which Auckland council says poses “a safety risk and distraction” to drivers, as well as being dangerous to carry out, according to Stuff.

Don't potholes pose a much bigger safety eisk and distration to drivers then..?
