The Usual Suspects...

Campaigners are urging ministers to change the law so that music lyrics are inadmissible in court...

Whut?

....a shift that they say would stop a practice that disproportionately affects young black men and criminalises creativity.

Oh. Of course. Here we go again...

At present, police can produce lyrics written by defendants, and even flag an appearance in the background of a music video, as evidence that a suspect is affiliated with a gang or involved in criminality. Campaign groups want a change to the victims and courts bill, which is currently making its way through parliament, to stop police from being able to present lyrics as evidence except when they are “literal, rather than figurative or fictional”.

So you can't be done for singing about shooting the sheriff unless you actually do plan to shoot the sheriff... How riduculous, what sort of morons are supporting this leniency for undoubtedly dangerous criminals

The amendment, which is being tabled by Baroness Shami Chakrabarti and has support from Baroness Doreen Lawrence, is due to be debated in the Lords this week.

Oh.Say no more...

Charkrabarti told the Guardian: “We’re in a ridiculous position at present where somebody’s musical taste is somehow probative of their criminal intent. It is like saying that my love of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather makes me a mobster. It’s extraordinary.”

Strange how it alway turns out to be accurate, though...

She is hopeful the amendment will be supported by the deputy prime minister, David Lammy.

Oh, god. The cavalcade of calamity continues.

I'm Not Seeing Any Sign Of It, Sadly....

...but then we all know they are inveterate liars, don't we?

Racial and religious hate crime on public transport is on the rise according to new data obtained by the Guardian, as community groups report how people are restricting their daily journeys because they fear abuse or assault.
Courtney was travelling by train out of Glasgow city centre in August this year when an elderly woman boarded the carriage and sat opposite.“I didn’t think anything of it, I had my earphones in and was just choosing music,” says Courtney.

A black woman playing music with her earphones on? This tale starts out unlikely, and forges ahead into the even unlikelier...

“Out of nowhere, she began making racist remarks, which got progressively louder after she put on a face mask. I stayed quiet because I was genuinely taken aback, you never expect that kind of hostility from a stranger.”

Throwing a bit of cloth over your mouth increases volume, eh? I never knew that!

Like many twentysomethings, Courtney vlogs parts of her day for TikTok. “But what prompted me to start recording was when she took out a Dettol disinfectant spray and sprayed it in my direction. At that point, I felt I needed to document what was happening for my own safety.”

Are you allergic to antiseptic then?

The woman eventually moved seats but continued to verbally harass Courtney, telling her: “Go back to your own country.” At this point, some fellow passengers stepped in to support her.

And then the entire carriage tood up and gave her a standing ovation, I suppose?

Akeela Ahmed, the chief executive of the British Muslim Trust, said the data echoes the stories her organisation are picking up all over the country and calls on local authorities, transport operators and community safety partners “to take urgent and meaningful action”

Such as? We don't find out, probably because there aren't any that come to mind.

For visible Muslims in particular, the top deck of a bus or a half-empty train carriage can mean threatening behaviour, verbal abuse or even violent attack simply because of their faith,” said Ahmed. Attacks on public transport reported to the trust are “some of the most complex and distressing cases we have handled to date,” she adds. “Many Muslims now feel compelled to micro-analyse every movement, expression or gesture out of fear that it may be misinterpreted, recorded and weaponised against them.”

Really? Doesn't seem to have inhibited the ones all over my social media feeds who never lose an opportunity to whine about Israel and how oppressed they are by being rexpected to obey the UK laws everyone else has to obey...

Dave Rich, the head of policy at the Community Safety Trust, said: “Although these figures are for all racial and religious hate crime on public transport, it is telling that the recent increase over the past two years aligns with the rise in antisemitic hate crime since the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October of that year. This is an ongoing problem that shows no signs of abating and it is vital that police, the CPS and transport operators are doing everything they can to catch and prosecute perpetrators of this hatred.”

Thsnk you for reminding us who has a legiimate complaint, Dave.

I’m Sure Your Huge Salary Cushions The Blow…

Marcus Rashford has delivered a worrying message to fans on social media...

Oh, god, not another self-publicising 'poverty' campaign incoming?

...revealing that he has endured 'months of abuse', with Man United supporters pinning some of the blame on YouTuber Mark Goldbridge.

Oh! And what's he guilty of? It seems the answer is 'noticing'.

The 26-year-old forward has had a difficult season on the pitch, failing to match the achievements of his 30-goal haul during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring eight times so far across all competitions this season. Goldbridge runs a fan channel called The United Stand, which has 1.85million subscribers on YouTube. He has recently released several videos in which he criticises the England star, notably once referring to Rashford as 'about as useful as a wheelie bin with no wheels.'

Heh! Fair comment, you might think?

In the early hours of Friday morning, Rashford responded to a post on X (formerly Twitter) that said the criticism he has received was unfair. The post read: 'The way Marcus Rashford is being treated is absolutely disgusting. It's cruel. It's abuse.' The United forward wrote back claiming that he was tired of the abuse he has received in recent months. 'I appreciate your support! It is abuse and has been for months. Enough is enough,' Rashford said.

Well, we have free speech in this country Marcus, so you'll just have to take it on the chin.

Another user wrote on X: 'Anyone saying this is criticism is just lying to themselves, nothing to do with Marcus Rashford but brings him up anyway to pile the hate on.
'Mark Goldbridge is carrying out a well-thought-out hate campaign and he needs to be stopped.'

Oh, give me a break!
