When Society Breaks Down, Progressive Justice Will Be Standing There With Blood On Its Hands And A Sheepish Grin On Its Face

A 15-year-old boy was ordered to serve just seven years in a young offenders' detention centre and a 13-year-old girl was spared being jailed and instead handed a three-year youth rehabilitation order over the manslaughter of Bhim Kohli.
His daughter, Susan, stood on the steps outside Leicester Crown Court following the hearing where she spoke of her disappointment about the length of the sentence. 'I feel angry and disappointed that the sentence... does not, I believe, reflect the severity of the crime they committed,' she said.

Another triumph in sticking your thumb in the eye of middle England so you can boast to your pals in chambers abouut how progressive and lenient you are, just like the last one.

Today at Leicester Crown Court, the boy and girl - who cannot be named after it was ruled they must remain anonymous - were sentenced by Mr Justice Turner.
Ms Kohli added: 'They have taken a life. When they are released they still have their full lives ahead of them. They can rebuild their lives. We can't.' She added that she felt that 'more could have been done to prevent my dad getting killed'.

Undoubtedly it could have, as in the Dagenham case, since this killing was the culmination of a long cvampaign of escalating harassment that no-one appeared to think was worth stopping.

Beginning his sentencing remarks, which were broadcast live on television, the High Court judge praised the family of Mr Kohli for their 'dignity' throughout the trial.

Turner wants to rememnber that we have imported a significant number of people into this country that, unlike the Kholis and their old fashioned trust in the institution of  British justice to right a wrong, believe in a rather more robust form of justice, and are prone to gathering a few of their relatives and taking the law into their own hands.

When some little scamps who have picked the wrong target are hanging from lamp posts, drenched in petrol and set alight, and the mob idss beating down the door to get at the rest of their family and treat them similarly. will 'Justice' Turner and his ilk recognise their part in this state of affairs?

He said: 'I'm sure you regret he died because of what you did to Mr Kohli, but you still say it wasn't your fault. It was your fault and the sooner you realise this the better.' The judge also told the girl that a short custodial sentence would do more harm than good, given the impact on her education.

So caring, to be worrying about the criminal's education, as if she has the slightest chance - or deserves to - grow up a productive citizen.

A Different Type Of Grooming...

...but it should surely attract the same penalties:
Two baby-faced schoolboys who murdered a 14-year-old air cadet after he was 'exploited' into dealing cannabis have today been unmasked by a judge. Kyle Dermody was also just 14 when he stabbed his former friend Nathaniel Shani in the neck following a row over drugs. He was last month given a life sentence after being convicted of his murder alongside Trey Stewart-Gayle, who was only 13 and armed with a screwdriver.
Following an application by the media, a judge today lifted a ban on publishing their names, saying there was a 'substantial public interest' in understanding how such young children could commit a fatal knife attack.

I don't think any of us don't understand it, actually. None of our hallowed institutions - government, police, church, community, social cohesion - account for much anymore. And this is the inevitable result.

We’ve seen too much of it over the last few years - and too much of the laxity greeting such crimes from our so-called criminal justice system - to claim we don’t understand it.

Mrs Justice Ellenbogen previously said that 'sadly it is no longer shocking' for such a young child to be murdered by boys of his age. Detectives have previously revealed how Nathaniel's tragic death last September illustrated how easily children from loving, supportive families can be sucked into a deadly inner-city underworld.
After both were convicted of murder following a trial at Manchester Crown Court, the pair were given life sentences last month. Dermody, now 15, will serve a minimum term of 13 years in custody while Stewart-Gayle, now 14, will have to serve a minimum of 10 years.

See..? Is that really a punishment that fits the crime?

The police seem unaccountably sympathetic to. well, not the victim, of course, but the perpetrators:

DCI Brennand claimed Nathaniel and his friends were victims of 'child exploitation', saying 'they don't have the skills to know otherwise'.
'They might think it's cool, but they're not.
'They're just acting for someone else and being exploited. It happens every day, on streets of inner cities in the UK. And this is why children start to carry knives.
'It's awful, absolutely awful, it's devastating.
'These are vulnerable children who can't make decisions, who might want some money for a new pair of trainers, and so they start doing things because someone has approached them.'

Now do decisions on transgender surgery or medication, chum 😏

Well, We Don't Teach Latin Anymore...

...so to a modern teacher, 'in loco parentis' is probably all Greek to them.
'Upon arrival my partner found Chloe who was surrounded by six teachers, but no police presence or paramedics at that time.
'The left side of Chloe's face was plastered in blood.
'My partner questioned the staff as to why we were never called about the incident and to inform us that our daughter had been stabbed. 'Their response was that they presumed somebody had already called us.

You know what happens when you assume, don't you?

'They also said that they also wanted to establish the truth before notifying the police. Two police officers did eventually arrive.

Wait, what? You're not detectives. A child has been assaulted and is bleeding, this is no time to get your Sherlock Holmes on. Leave it to the professionals,

'This is absolutely appalling. The Wordsley School (Ed: motto: Our school is defined by its culture and ethos – 'the way things happen'.) needs to be held accountable for its major failings
'We are absolutely distraught that this has happened to our daughter. We do not feel that our children are safe to return to school.
'The school do not seem able to provide us with answers as to why they have failed us.'

We can guess one thing now, and one only: all their efforts are being diverted to excuse their actions.

'They said the lad had been escorted off the premises and was currently making his way home. To me that's a dangerous thing to do.'

Well, quite. He's been arrested and released on bail. The cops at least know their jobs.

Ashley Weatherhogg, headteacher at Wordsley School, said: 'An incident took place in school yesterday afternoon, which is being dealt with through the school's behaviour policy.
'The school is now following the normal procedures and carrying out a full investigation.'

Ahhh, 'procedures'. As long as those are followed, even if they run contrary to common sense, everything will be fine.

Where's The Justice Here?

Sickening footage shows the moment a surly teenager killed an 82-year-old Army veteran with a single punch after being told off for causing trouble in a Derby bus station.
Omar Moumeche, who was 16 at the time, violently attacked beloved Dennis Clarke at Derby bus station after he told off his friends for messing about on an escalator.

That's a good old Derby name, isn't it?

Moumeche, now 18, was found guilty of manslaughter in July and was sentenced to two years in youth detention at Derby Crown Court today.

*sighs*

Detective Inspector Mark Shaw said: 'Our investigation was assisted by the capture of CCTV footage and many witness accounts, all of which were presented during the trial. 'The defendant claimed he acted in self-defence, and the jury on the balance and high threshold required refused to accept his version of events.'

Yeah, it was a pretty open and shut case but I wouldn't congratulate yourself too much, if I were you:

No further action was taken against two other teenage boys who were arrested at the time in connection with the attack.

Why not? They acted in concert, after all. They should be facing the very same (utterly pathetic) consequences, shouldn't they?
