Aren't We Forgetting Something, BBC News?

The family of a young boy who was left with life-threatening injuries after he was thrown from the 10th floor of London's Tate Modern art gallery have said their "little knight" has achieved his goal of being able to run, jump, and swim again.
The boy, who spent months in intensive care, has continued to gain cognitive endurance. His family said although his memory skills were still very limited, they were functional and improving, so he was "acquiring a general knowledge at his own pace, which increasingly allows him to be included with other children".
Bravery was found guilty of attempted murder in 2020 following a trial at the Old Bailey. He was handed a life sentence and told he would serve a minimum of 15 years in prison.
Heartening as it is to hear good news, it's strange that their update on progress doesn't include a mention of the progresss made by his attacker - perhaps because its not quite so heartwarming.

Yes, It's A Mental Illness...

...and it often goes hand in hand with other expressions of mental illness:

A murder-obsessed teenager who spoke of carrying out a mass shooting at an Edinburgh school has been jailed for six years. A court heard Felix Winter, who is now 18, "idolised" the killers behind the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in the US. The pupil repeatedly spoke about mounting a similar "Doomsday" attack to the one which claimed the lives of 12 students and a teacher in Colorado. Winter, who also held racist and pro-Nazi views, admitted two charges at a hearing in February.

But no matter what someone’s been found guilty of, there are always those eager to assist them to escape punishment.

Shelagh McCall KC, defending, called for a strict alternative to custody as her client was a "vulnerable young person" with mental health issues.

Indeed so, more so than this article wishes you to realise:

Police Scotland launched an investigation in the summer of 2023 after a social media photo of Winter at school wearing combat gear and carrying an imitation gun caused panic among pupils and parents. It emerged the clothes and prop gun were issued to him for a video being made in a drama class in which he had been cast as a kidnapper. But detectives established Winter, of Kirknewton, West Lothian, frequently spoke to other pupils about carrying out a school attack.
Officers discovered that the schoolboy had a TikTok account which had footage of him wearing black combat clothes as well as a skeleton mask.

Despite the name and the pronouns used by the BBC, this is a girl.

At a previous hearing, Winter's lawyer said that the teenager was vulnerable and a transgender person and that would need to be taken into account.

Quite why, when it’s merely another facet of her extreme mental illness, God only knows!

Don’t The BBC Have A Team To Combat Disinformation?

While the identities of all the victims have not been made public yet, a picture is slowly emerging of a group of mostly young people, many of whom - like Tiger - were Louisiana locals.

Eh? But didn't you start the article with this?

Jack, 22, was in Dallas visiting family members, while Tiger, a 28-year-old former Princeton alumnus who lived in New York, was in New Orleans, getting ready to celebrate the New Year.

And also:

Among the other victims of the attack in the early morning hours of 1 January was Matthew Tenedorio, an audio-visual technician at New Orleans' Caesars' Superdome. Tenedorio, who just turned 25 in October, had spent the earlier part of his evening at his brother's home in the town of Slidell, about 35 minutes away from New Orleans.

Closer, but still no cigar, BBC.
