...removing bus adverts for an evangelical Christian event.

Of course! It'd never be done for a Muslim Eid gathering, would it? But Christians are fair game, right?

Wrong, as it turned out. But what was so objectionable?

Ahead of an event at the town's Winter Gardens, the council removed advertisements that read 'Lancashire Festival of Hope with Franklin Graham - Time for Hope'.

'Hope'..? Hope is objectionable? To whom?

They had initially them (sic) but changed their position after a social media campaign against Mr Graham's 'offensive' opposition to same-sex marriage.

Ah! The usual suspects. And no doubt the council thought that they'd been played a winning hand in Victimhood Poker, until the courts slapped down a Royal Flush... 

'We accept the findings of the Court that we discriminated against Lancashire Festival of Hope because of the religious beliefs of Franklin Graham and in doing so interfered with Lancashire Festival of Hope's right to freedom of speech,' the council said in a statement.

'We sincerely apologise to the organisers of the event for the upset and inconvenience caused.'

What about an apology to all the ratepayers who will actually be paying for your miscalculation? 

Quite fishy, all this

It is possible to get fish from the wild for our table but one has to pay for it, for example through schemes which make it worth their while.  Nothing wrong with that on principle and the money is not the issue if we want quality but these 'luncheon boxes' are not my 'thang'.

The alternative though is horrendous, literally sickening, and it explains why so cheapo in supermarkets and even in shops which should know better.  If I don't want the new Thalidomide poison inside me, then why on earth would I want chemically toxic, physically ill salmon either?

There's another issue and that's Greenies themselves.  You see, while we've always had conservationists on our side of politics, people who husband the land and look after it as they go, e.g. burning off on the NY Moors, standard things from ages ago, there's also this other lot, isn't there - the Tatchell and Bill Ayers types, and their net effect on the community is that of a giant turnoff.

Take Extinction Rebellion for example, who con people with their 'for people and planet' bollox when in fact they're just a collection of violent yobs who occupy bridges and ensure the billions in cash keep pouring into the cabal's coffers to the detriment of our species.  But let's get more specific on the fishy side of things:

Why is a terrorist slated to become a member of the Biden Admin.?

When you plot to kill or maim people, you are rightly termed a terrorist; whether you succeed or not. If you give aid and succour to a terrorist, you gain that title for yourself. 

A group of eco-terrorists calling themselves Earth First! planned the systematic spiking of trees in the forests of Idaho some 30 years ago. Spiking is the deliberate placement of steel, or sometimes even non-ferrous material, ten-inch long nails into trees which are slated for felling and milling into mainly wooden building materiel. Senator Jim Risch, ahead of a vote by the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said:- 

The saw can be one of two types, either a circular saw in a small mill or, more likely, a large band saw that goes probably to the roof here and down again. It’s probably an inch and a half wide and double.

What happens when the saw hits this spike is what happens in a war when a hand grenade goes off. Shrapnel goes every direction. It destroys the saw, be it a band saw or a circular saw, and it will break this [spike] also into shrapnel. It will either kill or injure anyone that is within range of the shrapnel. That’s what tree spiking is.

So, why do you put this in a tree? You put this in a tree to kill somebody. It’s not put in there for fun. It’s not a Sunday school prank. You put this in a tree to kill somebody.

So who was Senator Risch talking about? 

He was talking about President Joe Biden’s nominee for the post of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) nominee, Tracy Stone-Manning. 

Ranking member Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) and all his Republican colleagues on the committee called on Biden to withdraw her nomination in a joint letter Wednesday.

Barrasso said in a statement, “Not only did Tracy Stone-Manning collaborate with eco-terrorists, she also helped plan the tree spiking in Clearwater National Forest. She has been covering up these actions for decades, including on her sworn affidavit to the committee. … President Biden must withdraw her nomination and if he does not, the Senate must vote it down.”

With the Senate deadlocked 50-50, all 50 Democrats would therefore need to vote to confirm Stone-Manning, and Vice President Kamala Harris would then be responsible for casting the tie breaking vote. 

The final words should perhaps be reserved for those of Senator Risch when he also stated:- “Some of my friends that I’ve talked with in Congress here have said, “Well, she made a mistake 30 years ago.” This was not a mistake”

“She shouldn’t be in front of this committee for confirmation to a major, major point in this administration; she should be in front of a jury, explaining to them why she committed perjury and why she lied to Congress.

My friends, look, if you want to confirm her, you absolutely can. But believe me, this stain on this administration will last for the next three and a half years.

If the Biden administration wants to have the face and the character of their administration represented by this individual, this attempted murderer, this perjurer, this liar, this conspirator, if that’s what you want in the administration, and that’s what you want for the face of the administration, here’s your person. Confirm her.”

Valuing Everyone...

Three peers face being banned from using House of Lords bars and restaurants after refusing to take a controversial sexual harassment course.

Former Tory party treasurer Lord Kalms, Lord James and Lord Willoughby will lose access to Lords' facilities, and will be only allowed to communicate with staff by email, after refusing to take part in 'Valuing Everyone' training.

Good for them for sticking to their guns,. Unlike others. 

Former Deputy Prime Minister Lord Heseltine called the training a 'shocking waste of taxpayer money' after completing it to avoid punishment.

What a craven example to set. Typical of Hestletime, who clearly values subsidised food over principle. 

Challenge Consultancy has pocketed £885,354 for running the course across the Commons and Lords, a Parliament spokesman said.

You'll note that attendance for MPs was made voluntary instead of compulsory. Because they knew they'd all turn up anyway? 

The peers will only get the access back if they agree to the training, which Lord James, 83, who previously advised George Osborne, argued is an infringement on freedom of speech.

Hereditary peer Lord Willoughby, 82, said the training was 'misguided' and amounted to 'virtue signalling'. He told the committee: 'The idea that we should be trained to value everyone is wholly misguided.

'However much training I get, I will never value everyone; as an example, I will never be able to value murderous terrorists, however many re-education or self-criticism camps I am required to attend.'

Well said! 

Lord Stanley Kalms, 89, who ran electronics retailer Dixons, said: 'During that period I was at the forefront of female equal rights and pay well ahead of legalisation.'

To demand that they now turn up for a hugely expensive Two Minute Indoctrination is repulsive. 

It's not so much the year of birth as the mindset and ideology

If age confers wisdom, an iffy statement if ever there was one - Corbyn, Biden etc. - then for those who do learn through wisdom, it must be dispiriting to see Gen X turn on Boomers and everyone on the Pre-Boomers for having the temerity to be the age they are:

Destroy their education. Destroy their jobs and their job prospects. Destroy their social life, their friendships, their mental health. Force them to work long hours at school or in physically demanding jobs in uncomfortable and breath-inhibiting face masks. This is what our country has done to our young people in the past 16 months.

Why? In an attempt (and not a very successful one) to protect a small minority of mostly elderly folk who are particularly vulnerable to one disease while we wait in limbo to develop a vaccine and roll it out to the vulnerable population.

Then do we give them back their freedom? Not at all. Then we move the goalposts, making freedom conditional on more and more people getting the vaccine. Until we make it to so-called ‘Freedom Day’, a month later than originally planned, and Boris Johnson chooses then to tell young people that their freedom to do the things they enjoy will be dependent on receiving a vaccine.

Just a reminder that Gen X are getting long in the tooth now as well and the Gen Zs are hot on their case, the Gen Xes standing in the way of Gen Z progress and jobs.  LOL.

Foreword

Long, long ago, in the mists of time, a young man undertook an Economics/Law degree of five years and remembers finding himself in a moot court, only to be plunged into a lecture following that on Keynesian economic theory.  At least the economic statistics part of the course was interesting.

As an undergrad, it just seemed to him that some of the theories on money supply were a bit iffy.  Lacking the theoretical background to make known these misgivings, he remained shtum with his professor, a most award-dripping man, of vast reputation. 

Switching to History and Politics at another university, the young man did far better, attacking Bertrand Russell's syllogism and other delights.  This young man does not purport to be any great shakes at leftwing economic theory [Keynes] and his only legal ability was in university debating societies where he found greater success.  And as part of that, he was capable of ferreting through libraries not on campus and discovering views quite opposed to Keynes, Russell, Bloom, Piaget and others.  Trouble was, it was hardly likely to earn him a degree. He did earn a couple over the journey hut that’s another tale for another time.

Dishonesty Is At The Heart Of The Transgender Movement...

Violent offences committed by men who self-identify as female are being recorded as having been perpetrated by women – leading to claims that the practice is distorting official crime figures.

Well, of course it is. It's distorting everything, all for the sake of a section of the population so tiny, there are probably more giant pandas... 

At least 16 police forces record crimes according to offenders' own declaration of their gender. Feminist campaigners and politicians say that the male biology of transwomen differentiates them from women, so it is more important to record offenders' biological sex than their self-declared gender.

That this has to be spelled out shows what an utter mockery has been made of objective reality. 

Kate Coleman, of the Keep Prisons Single Sex campaign, said police forces that accepted offenders' self-declared gender misled the public and made it harder to tackle crime. She added: 'Males and male crime are hidden in the female data and statistics. This has serious implications for the accuracy of statistics and service planning and development.

'Data must be accurately recorded to enable male prisoners to be identified as male and male crime as male. Neither male prisoners nor male crime should be hidden by recording it as female.'

And that's not even the half of it: 

Ms Antoniazzi also raised concerns about misleading media reporting of offences committed by transgender offenders, highlighting BBC claims that child sex abuse by women had risen sharply, something that could be explained by male abusers identifying as female.

If you cannot accurately define a thing, you can't combat it. Is that the grand plan behind all this nonsense? 

Naomi on THE topic of the moment

Strange bedfellows. 

Naturally, Wikipedia will want to diminish Naomi Wolf and so there'll be nothing particularly nice here.  I've been going on for a long time now and so have others that antecedents and bona fides are crucial when listening to anyone these days on anything.

Now it's true she comes over as a raving feminazi of the worst kind [third wave], which is pure Wokery and vicious towards women and their true interests and yet ... and yet ... judge for yourself whether that is so when you read this:

The National Rural Crime Network (NRCN) – made up of 32 crime commissioners and their forces – ordered the research into serious and organised crime in the countryside and found the traveller community featured prominently in offences such as hare coursing, fly-tipping, farm vehicle theft and poaching.

The only astonishing thing is that it required research... 

The study was due for release last October, but the organisation’s bosses ruled it should be delayed so more evidence could be gathered.

Because 'more evidence' will help them fend off the woke mob? What a waste of money! You cannot reason with people like this. No amount of evidence will ever convince them. 

A police source said: ‘The report has been hugely delayed as there were real concerns at the fall-out because it found travellers played a big part in rural crime. They’re terrified the woke brigade will jump down their throats, so they asked for more supporting evidence to ensure against that.

'But every month delayed is another month we delay having this out in the open and a proper debate about how we help rural communities who feel under siege.’

The woke mob will scream. Let them. No-one who matters should care. 

Last night, Conservative MP Peter Bone said: ‘We’ve had problems in the past when police forces have gone soft on certain sections of the community and, as a result, finding out terrible crimes have been carried out.

'People feel there is one set of rules for us, and one set of rules for travellers. Let’s have the report out and let’s have the arguments.’

There is indeed one set of rules for them and one for the law-abiding settled population. It's been going on for years. And if people are too afraid to admit that, it'll keep going on. Enough is enough.  

Sugar and salt tax across the UK?

The Taxpayers Alliance mailing this morning:

The nanny state reared its ugly head again this week after a report commissioned by the government proposed that foods should be taxed based on their sugar and salt content. Written by Henry Dimbleby, co-founder of the Leon restaurant chain, his recommendations would see every household forking out an extra £172 per year to the taxman. 

Naturally, the TaxPayers' Alliance didn't delay in calling out these preposterous proposals that would create a £3/kg tax on sugar and £6/kg on salt in processed foods.

The aim of course, is just as the Pharoah did in biblical times with the bricks and straw - this thing has been around a very long time.  if economics is the science of scarcity ... voila!

When totted up, taxes on sugar and salt could mean that consumers pay an extra £4.8 billion in tax every year. We argue the proposals would target consumers, food manufacturers and the already struggling hospitality industry. It would be deeply regressive and see food items become either tasteless or reduced in portion sizes. 

Our findings were covered in Britain's biggest newspapers including the Daily Mail, The Sun and Daily Telegraph. Our chief executive John O'Connell was adamant that the government must stop its nannying attitude towards the British public.

It's like telling Hitler that he must stop his totalitarian national socialism as there were grave dangers there.  Just as Boris does here to that suggestion, so Hitler would have in his day.  The obvious question is and was - what do you propose to do about it?
