We only need to string together five or so news items and the picture becomes clear ... and that's only in this country ... in the other former developed members of the Commonwealth, a similar situation has arisen. Here are a few items as of Thursday morning at 03:10.
If a PM is completely unaware or else dismissive of people's concerns, how on earth did they end up with that parliamentary majority and more importantly ... what's it going to take to end it? Given that elections are being banned all over the country?
I had a heat pump fitted, but within three months I had it set permanently 'off' because a) the radiators got warm so slowly and b) it was approximately four times as costly to run as my gas boiler.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I foolishly had a heat pump installed about 3 years ago and I hate it. I also have solar panels and a smart meter. Yes, I've done everything I vowed never to do. The solar panels offset my electricity bills over the year and will pay for themselves in about 7 years but only because I have battery storage. But the bloody awful heat pump will never even break-even. I feel stupid for getting it, that's what comes of listening to a village idiot like Miliband.
DeleteI'm even considering having a gas boiler installed again for hot water and for heating over the winter months.
I simply cannot afford all that, Grandpa ... quite concerned about govt interference, forcing this or forcing that.
ReplyDelete99% of UK properties are not suitable for heat pumps. The technology is basically that of a fridge: moving heat from one source to another. The place the heat is being transferred to has to have a minimum heat loss in order for the system not to be overwhelmed and working all the time. Then in winter, when the amount of heat available from the air is minimal, the heat pump may not be able to keep up with the heat loss from the building.
ReplyDeleteJust wishing heat pumps do the same job as gas fired boilers without understanding the technical aspects is foolhardy at best.
