Foreign doctors and nurses are increasingly shunning the NHS because anti-migrant rhetoric and rising racism have created “a hostile environment”, the leader of Britain’s medics has warned. The health service is being put at risk because overseas health professionals increasingly see the UK as an “unwelcoming, racist” country, in part because of the government’s tough approach to immigration, Jeanette Dickson said.
They must see something in this 'tough approach' that I'm clearly missing...
Sadly, some of them seem determinced to cling on here despite this, almost as if they relish the soft treatment they get.
A reminder: this antisemitic and terror-supporting doctor, who was caught on tape making a cutthroat gesture, is still allowed to practice in the UK. pic.twitter.com/7UbxrIDmOv

Well, if this does come true, at least it means we can train up more people who we want in our NHS.
The atmosphere in the UK towards migrants is now so unpleasant that some foreign-born NHS staff feel unsafe in their everyday lives, Dickson added. Selina Douglas, the chief executive of the Whittington health trust in London, told a public meeting last month that hospital and community-based staff were experiencing a rise in racism. Referring to overseas nurses who have worked here for 25 years, Douglas said: “Those staff are being racially abused in our hospital. I have had staff spat at walking up the hill [from the tube station].”
Yeah, pull the other one - if this happened it's not because they are foreign, but most likely because the agressor has had an NHS experience in the family.
Those people that feel unsafe or unwelcome in the NHS are welcome to take themselves to a country or health service where they feel more welcome. They have that freedom of choice. I'm not sure what the problem is.
ReplyDeleteIf there is a problem, it's their problem, not ours.
DeleteThis whining is so common now, it's boring and tiresome.
I want to be governed and served by public bodies such as the NHS, by people who look and behave like me.
