I subscribe to the viewpoint that asks why are we doing it? If it's to reduce the temperature of the globe, we are unfortunately responsible for a merest fraction of a percent of AGW. So why are we spending all these Trillions of pounds on CO2 reduction? Why are we not spending a whole lot less on a charm offensive to get all the big polluters to reduce their CO2 production which will make a significant difference? If we cannot influence CO2 levels ourselves, why are we not spending that money to mitigate the effects of AGW. Big dykes and barriers around the coastline to protect us from sea level rise. Sea defences that would have been made cheaper by using cheap energy without climate change levies. That would make our money go further. Bankrupting the country just to say we are holier than thou is a bit of a hollow victory, given we'll still drown (if the science is correct).
A reminder, dear reader, that you're welcome to comment as Anon but if so, please invent a moniker to appear somewhere in your text ... it tells Watchers nothing, it does help the readers.
Wishing all you Orphans and readers a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Hopeful New Year
