Key elements in Laura Perrins's take on that Jubilee tomorrow:
# I am sorry to admit that I have just about reached my limit when it comes to the Union Jack bunting and flags.
# I’ve had enough. May I ask exactly what we are celebrating when it comes to the Platinum Jubilee?
# The technical part I understand. However, given the current state of the country, I am not sure there is much to celebrate.
# Does this make me a killjoy? Perhaps the cheerleaders are correct and we should all party like a Downing Street clubber during lockdown 2020.
# I will attend my local Jubilee street party because I don’t want to be a party-pooper, I have children and I believe in family and community. But deep down, deep down, you have to admit it is all a bit bonkers.
# [T]he twilight years of her reign ... see us staring into a very bleak future of open borders, ruinous Net Zero policies, an energy crisis and a cost-of-lockdown crisis.
# [T]he Chancellor spent more on the cost of living in a single afternoon than his party once promised to spend over five years on everything.’ The government has no mandate for this kind of spending.
# Then there is the problem of open borders. The sky-high level of immigration is even being highlighted in the Times.
Laura admits that, being Irish, though hardly Fenian, she sees Blighty through a different lens. For those of us for whom this is our monarch for better or worse ... well ... I'm a bit at a loss what to celebrate. Julia and I were trying to work out an appropriate response tomorrow, it's down to me to post something ... anything ... to mark the occasion ... by the way, her regular post will appear on Monday and she was thinking whether to run something at Ambush Predator tomorrow.
The point I suppose I'm making is that ... well let's put it this way ... there'll be people at those street parties ... karens ... who were perfectly happy to see the vax refuseniks excluded from public life or even incarcerated or executed, for their own stupid [as it turned out] reasons ... so, are the 30% or whatever it is now refuseniks to go into the streets, deliriously happy, join hands with those who would still rather see govt incarcerate us ... and all sing kumbaya?
Eff that. There is no closure in this country, no leadership, just a gaping wound. And if the karens start this more patriotic than thou c**p, I'd ask just how patriotic it is for a govt to cravenly cave in and sell the UK to Schwab, straight after we supposedly extricated ourselves from under the EU communist yoke.
Better this post goes up Thursday rather than on the actual day. Unlike the karens who wish to wreck our lives and wreck the country, I've no desire to wreck their festive inanities tomorrow. Should anyone post eulogies on the monarch ... fine ... well done ... verily you have your reward for ignoring reality. Wonder how the groomed and raped kids will feel tomorrow about the celebrations, the care home victims et al?
Have a wonderful Friday tomorrow, all.
I am having a Roundheads party.
