Have They Tried Looking Down The Back Of The Sofa?

A pistol, rifle and deactivated World War One machine gun were among the items lost or stolen from Ministry of Defence facilities over the past two years.

Yikes! Usually, it's smaller, portable items that careless civil servants lose, isn't it?

Figures uncovered by the Liberal Democrats show more than 700 phones, laptops, computers and USB sticks also went missing over the period.

Ah. That's more like it. Wait, back up! What have the idiots in the LibDems got to do with this?

The party's defence spokesperson Helen Maguire said the losses were "deeply concerning", especially "at this time of heightened global security tensions".

Helen, sweetie, are you in the right job? You DO know that if the Russians or Chinese invade, they bring their own weapons, don't you?

How much of a threat are these, should they fall into the wrong hands, anyway?

A deactivated World War Two Luger Pistol and Sten submachine gun were both lost in June 2023. In July 2023 an SA80 rife was also lost, along with a deactivated World War One German machine gun the following month, although both have subsequently been found.
Meanwhile, a Glock 19 Pistol was stolen in December 2023.

Well, the Glock's modern so obviously not deactivated but surely re-activating the others is a pretty difficult job, as would be obtaining ammo.

And after all, it doesn't seem as if the modern criminal can't obtain firearms already. Terrorists prefer Henry Ford's invention these days,

The Lib Dems called for an urgent inquiry into how the items were misplaced and what was being done to reduce losses and thefts. Maguire said: "The government is more butterfingered than Goldfinger when it comes to national security.
"The loss of these crucial resources is deeply concerning - especially at this time of heightened global security tensions.
"Sensitive national safety information may end up in the wrong hands, while precious public money is spent on replacements in the meantime. And the theft of dangerous weapons should seriously raise alarm bells when it comes to security."

Calm yourself, Helen. Nice soundbite, I know, but really, we don't even know these things ever left the premises - they could simply be misfiled.

Perfect example of shifting positions

Just as with real science, one’s positions need to adjust, one’s alliances over time. The core eternals, e.g. The Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes etc. stay the same and underpin “The West” … that is, we treat one another ethically, civilly … but human alliances depend on positions and voting records.

This is also why I for one am not into Political Parties, nor Cross Based Individual Denominations … criticising each one by one. In the case of the Uniparty, Tory branch, when I read today’s Daily Sceptic, bearing in mind that the soon to be Lord Toby runs it, and also bearing in mind this article heading and byline:

Kemi or Nigel: Who is Right?

By Anonymous IT Reporter

… firstly, the headline is expressed as a question, an old journo trick … I should know … then the old trick of the “anonymous writer” … this article is already showing signs of mendacity, of slyness and I’d guess that it would pretend to be “evenhanded” on the surface, an “honest attempt” at getting at “the truth of the matter”, whilst at the same time saying that because of doubts over Reform, “Nigel” might “clear it all up” by doing this:

Here at the Daily Sceptic we would be very interested to hear from the developer of the software as to what it actually does. One way to resolve this would be for Reform to open source that software. It is very likely in a repository on GitHub – just make it public (remove the secrets first guys, obvs). And proof of deployment would be good too.

Yes, you’d like that, Mr. Tory, whilst at the same time continuing to conceal your own and how Badenoch knew something … or didn’t. Also how in South Thanet, the boxes had not been opened until after 2 a.m. but at 11:30 p.m., a Tory spokesman was able to tell the MSM exactly who had won and roughly by how much.

Now for Nigel … clearly going for the PMship and that gong … there was also the little matter of selling out The Brexit Party to the Tories. On the other hand, he’s upped Reform membership wonderfully so far … but so have Rupert and Lee.

This post title and opening mentioned shifting positions and science. In science, one is always open to new data to be evaluated … ditto in politics. As things come to light, positions tweak, even marginally shift on the way Parties operate … but never on core verities which are part of what make us The West.

By Sacking The Morons Who Processed The Payment?

Gilly and Nigel Cutts' 'dream flat' in Arundel, West Sussex, turned into a nightmare when water started making its way inside the Georgian building. Whenever it rained water would pour through the ceiling and 'it got to the point where we'd dread the weather being wet,' the couple told the BBC.Together with their neighbours, the Cutts took legal action against the building's owner and were awarded £90,000 in compensation by a judge.

Hurrah, right? Well, yes. But….

But, the couple have not seen a penny and were astounded to learn that Brighton County Court handed the building's freeholder the money by accident. They said: 'To say we were speechless just doesn't cover it.
'We won our case, so where's money? It was paid to the wrong person - it's pure madness.'

How can this happen, and no-one faces any consequences?

Brighton County Court has since apologised for the error but has not yet paid back the couple. The defendant has not been contactable since. A spokesperson for Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service said: 'We apologise to the claimants for this administrative error and remain committed to resolving the matter as quickly as possible.
'A judge has ordered the defendant to return the funds and we have additionally referred them to the police for investigation.
'We've taken steps to prevent something like this from happening again.'

Does anyone really think the idiots responsible for such an error will face any sanction at all?

The traitors within the gates

Before starting this, Julia will be back tomorrow, OoL readers.

Now, a lady named Ann Kelly, on Gab, posted this:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.” ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 B.C.)

Christmas wishes to OoL readers

Greetings from all of us at Orphans this 2024 season:

It’s been a rough year for many and shows no sign of abating but at least for now we can have a break and some nice dining and bonhomie tomorrow … for some, the Nativity uppermost in the mind.

Sadly, not all our readers are well and naturally, we wish that situation reversed … thoughts with them. Also, various readers are offering Christmas wishes to us and y’all … reciprocated, ladies and gentlemen.

We really hope you all have a relaxed, peaceful time now, unlike Amelia Carter on the NYC subway, who never made it to Christmas Day.

Deep waters with Ginge and Whinge

This was run by patron IYE across the way at one of our sites:

“A federal court has denied the Stanford Internet Observatory, Atlantic Council, and Aspen Institute’s attempt to dismiss AFL’s class action lawsuit for conspiring with the U.S. government to conduct targeted surveillance and censor conservative political speech.”

https://x.com/America1stLegal/status/1870175433443914093

{Bad news for this one:

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex
Member, Aspen Commission on Information Disorder
Co-Founder, Archewell”}

We’ve been following the doings of this pair for quite some time, as part of which I’ve been following the Me-Again “yacht girl” allegation but far more important is this interference in transatlantic politics and US internal politics, using Ginge’s position as errant royal son to interfere in all sorts of pokitics, inc. African.

Part of America First Legals multi-part item on X went:

The lawsuit alleges that these academic institutions, nonprofits, and researchers conspired with the federal government to surveil and censor conservative political speech regarding COVID-19 and elections on social media platforms.

Amid AFL’s lawsuit and

’s investigation as Chairman of the Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, the Stanford Internet Observatory was shut down in June 2024, and the Election Integrity Partnership did not operate during the 2024 election cycle.

Translated, it means that a class action was brought by a group including a Hoft (TGWP) against Fed weaponisation against conservatives. Some institutions on the far or Woke left attempted to dismiss the class action but a fed judge has denied their action … meaning that the question of Fed weaponisation against conservative thought is still very much alive.

One of the alleged weaponisers against conservative thought in the States is Harry’s set-up, which immediately grings his visa into question … esp. as DJT comes in power and the new border tsar has razor dharp teeth.

If There's A Competition For 'Worst Take On The German Christmas Market Massacre'...

...then I think I've found it. This went up before the engine had cooled and the bodies had been counted. You think you hate the MSM? You don't hate them enough.

The serious prospect of Reform as viable opposition?

… and as such … govt.

Two ex-Tories discussing Reform, Miriam Cates current Tory … to be expected … however … that does not negate the clear issues within Reform which also plague the Tories even now … wets v dries, Uniparty v Conservative people, ideologically.

Then there is the Carswell factor … are these two plants or in Jenkyns’s case … trying Reform out. Let’s give credit where it’s due and let’s say they’re genuine and the aim is to build … is being anti-Wokerati, anti-Uniparty sufficient or is it too broad a church to survive?

On the latter point … well aren’t the Tories too broad a church themselves?  Well yes, but with a long history and ferocious whips. I’ve oft-written about the fundamental problem with Party per se before country.

Reform must attract investment … that’s Farage/Tice, plus they must stay ideologically pure, i.e the Lowe/Anderson position … they must bring in sufficient M25, as well as working class Brit … then there is the male-female thing … they will probably sort the real migrant v spurious issue at fierce meetings.

What do the public need? Assurance that Farage won’t sell them out to the Tories again … sorry but that’s the perception … plus that a broader cross-section of social strata can be accommodated … more centrist without mass dismay and desertion.

In short, Reform MUST have heated discussions to hammer out policy recognised as such by the international west.  DJT’s admin will be watched carefully over there.  For how long? Well, Reform are certainly not ready yet … so 2025 is the year.  Depends how long Britain can stand Starmer.

Plus there (cough) IS actually still a Tory Party … splitting the vote with Reform … that’s the most vital question of all. If you take the numbers of Labour, red rosette types, other forms of socialist, CINOs … how many are they, combined, versus true pro Britain people?

Are Reform seriously possible as the senior partner in a coalition?  Will Old Tories ever brook that?

My feeling is … increasingly, as the ageing young come into it more.  Different ballgame is developing. 🍿🍿🍿

Any ideas, Sherlock?

There’s a cartoon meme with two charts on the wall listing the spike in crime and the spike in something else … an observer then asks Holmes the titular question above.

Obliquely, here’s another way to come at the issue in Magdeburg:

And here’s yet another way:

All right … that’s that you’d think but no … I’ve just posted it, a crime in the eyes of those determined to take offence, whilst they know full well what it’s all about … every single person in the west knows excepting Woke left yoof and ageing champagne socialists …

… but were you to make any comment below, you’d have made yourself complicit in their evil eyes … better to just leave it be I’d suggest.

Which does leave us with the conundrum, does it not? In the US, the people have made their move, action is on its way … but in Soviet Britain, under The Beloved Leader Kim Jong Granny Harmer?

Just give me the one page summary

The long and the short of it is that it's all well and fine Elon writing, in response to the Demrat/RINO win in the House in Washington about an hour ago, it being 02:04 a.m. GMT:

... because even though the Machine was certainly discommoded, temporarily, for a day yesterday, with MAGA and therefore the antiWoke crowing, even in this country, about "people power" ... I for one went on to read the fine print and knew they had until their midnight Friday for the evil muvvers to concoct a different way of ramming through more destruction ... just as the Granny Harmer is doing here, stacking the Lords.

Whoa!  How do I know all this? It's my job to, plus a few people at our site over there, Julia here ... a drop in the ocean so to speak. Given that we across the way are older, with health issues and Julia here is fulltime employed ... then it's unrealistic for us to be able to comprehensively cover every vital topic, particularly as we're being deliberately flooded with issues to overwhelm the "citizen pundit" and there's an expertise gap as well, plus we have homes to upkeep and maintain, chores to do.

How many reading this now are fully aware, can grasp the fine detail of why the evil Jeffries was crowing half an hour ago, Biden plus Harris having flown back in just for this, that the Demrats and RINOS are chortling that they can now F America over good and proper for Trump on Jan 20, plus his much trumpeted team, plus the American people ... so much for the promised tax cuts to the needy ... even a Brit can understand that ... at least grannies can.

For what it's worth, here are some screenshots of the past two hours, it now being 2:23 a.m. GMT:

The tactic by which the omnibus was jemmied through?  Confuse and confound, offer each GOPer sweeteners, personally or in some cases, have them stand on "principle" ... it was diabolically clever ... for those remotely interested, a link to the bill is across the way at our place.

For the average bear (soc-med reader), the only thing they need to know is Jeffries crowing to the assembled MSM in delight.  Digressing from the issue itself and looking at just what we can and cannot do as ordinary people to keep these bstds at bay from harming us ... yes, we may be millions upon millions of voters but we're confused and confounded voters, unable to combine due to dearth of good data ... deliberately distorted data like fake Met weather station reports, like covid vaxx efficacy, like every other issue we're beset with ... all at once ... with enough on our plates without having to worry about some complexity across the pond or even our ditch.

For example ... Magdeburg. Why have I not touched it yet? Because I've been covering the House mess. There's only so much one person can do, an ageing person, unpaid, with health issues ... multiply that by the number of us bringing the stories in ... what, two dozen of us being up to speed on the major headlines?

Then consider censorship all the way down ... airtime provider, platform, device, browser, search engine ... at each and every link in the chain is the potential to F us about ... accounts suspended, blogs stolen ... let me count the ways.

Moaning?  Realistic! We are designed not to get our act together, something MAGA and Reform were showing signs of ... still are.  Anyway, at 2:43 a.m. GMT, I'm off to get some kip, all right?
