In a sense, we're in the more immediately dire situation, personal safetywise but there's still gross miscarriage across the pond:

Is it better or worse here?
We certainly have the same corruption and dishonesty here, the same unelected coup d'etat but in a different way. Also, we have the enemy ... fighting age men, dotted all over the country in hotels, in forces barracks ... ready to turn on us ... which sporadically is happening right now.

In this world, it's highly unlikely the wicked will be held to account.
