We needn't go into what is facing your land across the pond just now ... enough will be spoken and written throughout the day, no doubt.

    While working in a multi-national military unit in West Berlin, as was, we used to tell the Americans that the British also celebrated July 4th as being the day we offloaded one of the colonies, it being too difficult to instill any culture in the residents.
    No sense of humour, the Yanks.
