Trump, the impeachment champ

Well, if anyone were going to be an impeachment champion, it would have to be President Trump.

Someone tweeted, recalling the president's ice cream serving:

Two scoops, two impeachments, two acquittals 😎

After Trump's second impeachment acquittal, the former US ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell tweeted:

Turn on the escalator!

Hours before Trump was acquitted, Grenell gave an interview to Newsmax in which he said that Democrats:

have taken impeachment and weaponized it into just a political tool.

The head of the Republican Party, Ronna Romney McDaniel, Mitt's niece, tweeted:

Now that President Trump is once again acquitted in latest unconstitutional effort, maybe Democrats will finally focus on getting to work for the American people.

Open the schools, deliver the vaccines – stop with the partisan attacks.

However, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, whose wife Elaine Chao served as transportation secretary in the Trump administration, still sounded as if he wanted Trump prosecuted for the chaos at the Capitol building on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Here is his 10-minute video. After rehashing everything that happened that day -- events that even CNN said were 'pre-planned' and naught to do with Trump -- McConnell ends by saying that, 'constitutionally', Trump cannot be impeached.

Gateway Pundit's report, with more quotes, points out that that McConnell gave his speech after casting his 'not guilty' vote.

Elaine Chao's family, by the way, own Foremost Group, a shipping company. They are Taiwanese and Foremost Group is registered in New York State, but can one operate a huge corporation without Chinese influence at some level?

Newsmax's Emerald Robinson spoke for millions of Trump supporters:

Mitch McConnell has now told his Republican colleagues: he won't vote to convict President Trump. That means McConnell is finished as a leader. Why? Because McConnell wanted Trump convicted. This is his show. He pushed this sham until it was clear that he didn't have the votes.

Meanwhile, in Palm Beach, since I last posted here, both Trumps established their own 'Offices'. This was Melania's announcement of February 12:

Mrs. Melania Trump is announcing the opening of The Office of Melania Trump. Please follow this account for news and updates.

No doubt she is happier being out of the swampy cesspit that is Washington DC. On Saturday, February 13, her Office posted a link to a Breitbart exclusive:

In the first statement from the Office of Melania Trump, the First Lady’s team says her number one priority at the moment is her role as mother to their son, 14-year-old Barron Trump, and laying the groundwork for her future philanthropic projects.

However, even after becoming a normal American citizen again, she's still getting brickbats rather than bouquets:

The statement comes as CNN’s Kate Bennett published a piece comparing Mrs. Trump’s schedule to that of First Lady Jill Biden, quoting anonymous sources.

The story suggests that while Mrs. Biden has quickly transitioned to a schedule of public speaking arrangements, magazine interviews, and televised messages, Mrs. Trump’s schedule is filled with spa visits and nightly fish dinners.

So, that day, her Office posted a statement in response to the CNN piece:

Mrs.Trump is no longer First Lady. She is a private citizen, mother, & wife. Sources in this article are not affiliated w her nor have insight into her thoughts or daily life. CNN’s FLOTUS Correspondent choosing to publish false gossip illustrates the media’s unhealthy obsession.

One of Trump's defence lawyers, Michael van der Veen, who lives near Philadelphia, told The Hill:

My home was attacked. I've had nearly 100 death threats.

The Hill's article has full details. Van der Veen said:

I'm a trial lawyer and I represent people's interests in court. That's what I do. I love doing it. And I'm disappointed that that is the result of just me doing my job.

Melania's son-in-law, Donald Jr, however, looked on the bright side that day:

Great week.

Trump beats impeachment. Dems in disarray. The Lincoln Project burnt to the ground. The RINOS in the GOP establishment exposed & collapsing. Cuomo & Dem Govs in free fall. The media depressed and lashing out at Dems for their impeachment fail.

#MAGA ascending again!

Indeed.

CNBC's Eamon Javers tweeted:

By a vote of 43 not guilty to 57 guilty, President Trump is acquitted and will be free to run for President again in 2024 if he so chooses.

Fox News's Chad Pergram tweeted (emphasis mine):

Senate votes to acquit Trump on incitement of insurrection

The vote was 57-43

They needed 67 to convict.

GOP Sens voting to convict: Burr, Cassidy, Collins, Murkowski, Romney, Sasse, Toomey,

CBS's Catherine Herridge tweeted an image of Trump's full statement, which reads, in part:

Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together...

The sentence continues:

... to achieve American greatness for all our people. There has never been anything like it!

Then comes the conclusion:

We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant and limitless American future.

Together there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

We remain one People, one family, and one glorious nation under God, and it's our responsibility to preserve this magnificent inheritance for our children and for generations of Americans to come.

May God bless all of you, and may God forever bless the United States of America.

No doubt, millions of Trump supporters will be reading between the lines in the days to come.

I hope the next chapter of MAGA is a substantial one. Right now, the US is zooming in reverse with the Dems at the wheel.

  1. The latest video Don Jnr posted is a CBS interview with Trump's lawyer, Van der Veen. The news anchor is so absolutely destroyed that at the end she calls him "President Trump's lawyer". Freudian slip? https://t.me/TrumpJr/8760

  2. Thanks, Druid. I could not believe that reporter, who is apparently a newbie.

I was going to use this for another post, but here's the vid in a more visible format, for those of us who are not on the newer platforms.

Cracking video. Click on the tweet:
