As a demonstration of deep affection for one who may have been elevated, but still kept the common touch, I think that this photo of the queues along the Thames speaks louder than a sonic boom.

According to the Guardian, not everyone prepared to queue for 8 hours is there because they wish to pay their respects.Quite why anyone would stand in line that long, I cannot imagine.Still, it is the Guardian.
