Does a regime change forgive all debt?

Briefly back to controlled opposition Breitbart:

https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2022/03/16/iran-frees-british-iranian-zaghari-ratcliffe-after-uk-agrees-to-pay-off-400-million-debt/

Zaghari-Ratcliffe and another British-Iranian dual national, Anoush Ashoori, who was detained in Tehran in 2017, boarded a plane from Mehrabad International Airport after the deal was struck. A third dual national, Morad Tahbaz, is set to be released from prison on furlough shortly.

The breakthrough came after extensive diplomacy that secured the release of the three dual nationals and led to agreement to repay the debt in a way that complies with U.K. and international sanctions. Britain agreed to pay Iran 393.8 million pounds ($515.5 million), which will be ring-fenced so the money can only be used for humanitarian purposes. The British government declined to offer details of the arrangement.

While London has refused to acknowledge a link between the debt and the detention of the dual nationals, Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s husband has been outspoken in arguing that Iran was holding her hostage to force Britain to pay.

I see the 'diplomacy' of the british government that triggered the release of this dupe was actually the forced repayment of £400m stolen from the Iranians years ago. Honesty in politicians? - some hope!

My thoughts:

As it says in the heading, is debt cancelled if the regime ordering something is no longer the regime receiving?

  1. The linking between the cash and this silly woman apart. I honestly do not understand the fuss.
This stupid, silly woman brought this all upon herself, going for a holiday in Iran.

She held on to her Iranian passport, she believed that Iran would behave as a mature Nation, instead of a country ruled by a bunch of religious nutcases.

And her husband is almost as stupid as she is, for even allowing her to get a visa for that cess-pit of a country.

They brought all this upon themselves.

  2. Good to see someone else recognises BB as controlled opposition. They are both quite subtle and totally unsubtle about it. Far more dangerous than the MSM which I read regularly, because I know how to interpret their reports.

  3. Not forgetting that the racist, far-left bbc are also implicated in this case. Mrs Ratcliffe had apparently been on some sort of bbc training course to gather information on their behalf. And if my memory serves me, that was the reason she was originally arrested.
