This post uses the Covid, mask, lockdown, jab issue as the material but the thrust of the post is using examples to illustrate the difficulty of discerning fact from fiction - for those on both sides of the divide.
Inundation
The sheer volume of material being pumped out by citizen journos is starting to match that of the MSM and nowhere can that be seen more than at one small blog, N.O., which can be added to Conservative Woman, Lockdown Sceptics and how many hundred others?
Unsupported claims masquerading as supported claims
This one's the bona fides wrecker. An online daily downunder, the Geelong Advertiser, has this as its mailing as of Sep 7:
If I click on the Read more, there's an impressive list of cases across Victoria and then this comes up:
But Health Minister Martin Foley said the path out of lockdown should not be seen as a “snapback” to where the state was in April or May.
“The regions may continue to be at risk, as we have seen with a combination of importing the virus particularly from NSW and making sure that the metropolitan Melbourne leaks don’t get into our regions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Melburnians could be granted slight freedoms earlier than planned if 70 per cent first-dose vaccine targets are met.
"Granted""slight" freedoms eh? From a Premier who says this:
Premier Dan Andrews made the announcement during a press conference where he told citizens, who remain under a draconian lockdown and a 9pm-5am curfew, that the unvaccinated will be kept under such restrictions indefinitely.
“There is going to be a vaccinated economy, and you get to participate in that if you are vaccinated,” Andrews said. “We’re going to move to a situation where, to protect the health system, we are going to lock out people who are not vaccinated and can be.”
“If you’re making the choice not to get vaccinated, then you’re making the wrong choice,” he added.
Where did I get that from? From here:
What is that site? Well I noticed the author Paul Joseph Watson whom regular ferreters know well as a contributor to Alex Jones's Prison Planet. I've found him fairly reliable at breaking news but of course, he puts "our" spin on it - just as the Geelong Advertiser puts its spin on things.
If you stop and go back to the G'Ad above, you see it is News Corp, [Murdoch] and it's a rare article which gets through in plain text like that. On things like football and other ordinary issues, you're met with a paywall if you want any more. Not on this issue though, where there is govt propaganda to disseminate to subscribers' inboxes.
Are you getting my drift here - only when govt approved do you get the full article. The news service is a very old offshoot of the dead tree regional paper which was always parochial and sensationalist to a point but it's the reality for many. And as you see, it is Herald Sun, the Victoria based national daily of yore, meaning in deep captcha, not unlike the NYT, Times in the UK, Times in NY et al.
The capture of the regionals and of course, their reality dissemination is for another post if we can ever catch our breath.
And their claim on the front about new "cases" - yes and so what? New cases according to their track and trace, then their PCR test cranked up to the cycles they need, then the assumption it was among the unvaxxed, when there is evidence that the double vaxxed are just as susceptible.
Let's have a look at one source of a dozen we've posted at N.O. on this latter claim, just to illustrate the difficulty with any claim at all. It does not negate the claim in the least as you'll see but it does illustrate the pitfalls to even getting to the evidence:
Before even getting to the content, there was one of the "opposition" who came in, specifically to trash Daily Expose. so naturally I looked more closely at it. The commenter said it was not just this site but "most of the others" as well - you get the methodology - find one flaw and they say it negates every source.
Thus, if we post a CDC report or footage of Fauci talking, the theory goes that that is now negated because of some website's habit of latching onto something and writing it up "for their own purposes" ... just as every site in the sphere does.
It's so subtle, this whole war. So the proof of the pudding is in the pudding and does this article have anything to it?
Read it for yourself - I'd say pretty substantial, at least to the point of reasonable doubt being cast. No wonder that commenter was down on the "scurrilous" Daily Expose because they shoot from the hip, they gather sources and just print them.
Not unlike us.
So they must be character assassinated, yes? Rather than he material itself evaluated.
So the people who would have gone there for data are now unsure. Subtle psy-op, yes?
And the bona fides of the Geelong Advertiser, by comparison? That source is News Corp - do you know who controls that organisation?
All the while, there is severe and condoned trolling going on in other places:

Drew Holden thread on fake news Ivermectin story
"We’ve got to talk about the Rolling Stone ivermectin article. Turns out the story about rural hospitals so flooded with ODs that they couldn’t treat other patients was made up, entirely invented. A lot of people took the bait, and I’ve got the screenshots...."
What of this below? Trolling or did Pfizer do this?
"Pfizer Demanded Bank Reserves and Military Bases From Govts as Collateral Against Vax Damage"

Can you trust Bitchute? My reply is - probably more than YT or any of the other legacy media with an agenda over this issue. You get the good and the bad and need to have your own immunity to trolling and I'm not sure everyone has - we are on one side or other of the issue - very kind to our own sources, sudden and sharp on the enemy's.
And so the problem continues - flooding of the ether with countless "reports", part of which we print, impossible to pursue the bona fides to the nth degree but enough on most items to give us an idea if the source is usually reliable or not.
How would I know this? You see the tail-chasing we are subjected to? Perfect example of our dilemma:
Red Cross is warning all Americans that Covid-vaccinated humans are ineligible for donating plasma.. does that mean their blood and organs are also contaminated with spike proteins?
Let's pause and go into that one. Firstly, going to the site, you're bombarded by sign-up panels and other guff. Then SHOCKER in capital letters, always a red flag for me.
As I went further and further down that rabbit hole, bombarded by pop-up panels urging me to sign-up, a most annoying hard sell, came this:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8051011/
That's approaching what we'd call "evidence" ... but as evidence of what? My point is not whether it is true or not, it's that I had to go through all that guff to even get that far.
Which suggests to me they're vastly more interested in signing me up and enticing me with some tasty morsels than they are providing data we can read and move on to the next. One site doing this is Epoch News, whose emails I receive.
Oh and in the comments section of Natural News:
rplende • 6 hours ago
Without official documentation or a press release, claims like this aren't worth anything. Where can we find the official statements by the Red Cross. These type of reports are bloody useless or complete fakes.
He/she has a point behind the pseudonym - nowhere could I find the Red Cross itself saying that, something which should have been upfront.
Let's go to this one:
Study: COVID Shot Enhances Delta Infectivity
Sign-up pop-ups again and a warning that I have 48 hours to sign-up. Bad bad bad, red flags. Voila:
What sort of shoddy expose is that which locks a person into threats that he won't be able to see it after 48 hours? Also that tick with "fact checked" - as if I'm supposed to accept that without a source as to who is doing this supposed "fact checking".
So I clicked on the pdf:
“Although Pfizer-BioNTech BNT162b2-immune sera neutralized the Delta variant, when four common mutations were introduced into the receptor binding domain (RBD) of the Delta variant (Delta 4+), some BNT162b2-immune sera lost neutralizing activity and enhanced the infectivity.
Still does not give me source but does mention the number 20. Ok, foot of page - this under 20:
Unique mutations in the Delta NTD were involved in the enhanced infectivity by the BNT162b2-immune sera. Sera of mice immunized by Delta spike, but not wild-type spike, consistently neutralized the Delta 4+ variant without enhancing infectivity.

This holds more water IMHO than many of the other links:

This holds some water too:

In the title. Comprehensive time line:

Time constraints
Be honest here - which were you more likely to look at - at a Bitchute or twelve, all the way through, or at hard-copy data, despite the pop-ups and sign-ups, plus the EU constraints?
Obviously we want the data right there at hand and though videos give their own version of pop-up data and fine detail, a worthy thing, most people want data at hand, in hard-copy form, stored so they can refer back to it later.
Therein lies one of the greatest obstacles to data transference today - the time constraints on each of us, he frustration.
Drawing this post to a close
Am I saying that none of the above is of value? Not at all, except perhaps for the Geelong Advertiser and Natural News for the reasons stated. Despite the c*** Mercola put us through, there was at least something there at the end. But who has that sort of time?
And how dispiriting is the whole thing anyway? Just to find facts which will stand up?
