False compassion

The Garethgate debacle at Wembley has illustrated - though way too many turned away in order not to see and then ascribed it, quite wrongly, MSM abetted, to something quite different - it's illustrated a fundamental principle and that's how false compassion can bring down an entire organisation, an entire country in fact.

Woke Gareth turned what was an uphill battle against a known team of dirty divers into a debacle for his own country at the death, and Italy are chortling about English woke myopia.

It’s true we have little patience at this site for indulging wrongdoers and the language reflects this but analyse what our concern is about in each case and far from being Ayn Rands, we are dead set against destructive things - that’s the motivation.

Take the Somali pirates - yes, if they approach any ship to board, they must be sunk and that’s an end on’t.  There are two factors - one is that that’s a dozen pirates less to do it to someone else and two - the message gets through about what will happen each and every time.

Therefore it adds to security of supply lines for all.  False compassion for entirely the wrong people is a killer - look at this, at Adam’s place:

For most of these false compassion types, which is basically anyone who talks about compassion, all it is is a means to show they care, even to show this to themselves so they can feel warm inside. That’s well known but here’s something else. For a materialist, compassion should be meaningless. How can it mean anything other than in strictly utilitarian terms when applied by and to a random group of atoms mechanistically assembled? If you claim compassion but do not live as a spiritual being with all that implies and demands you are a self-deceiver and a hypocrite.

He’s getting at the notion of inner spirituality, without which, with not even a drop of human kindness, a man becomes a psycho, like Hancock - zero compassion for any human, certainly not for his wife and certainly not for any Brit except for his inner circle.  Big deal, even the publicans do that, the tax collectors.

The issue with the Woke left is that they’re compassionate enough on the whole but far too often for faux causes, for things which clearly do not need it and which reinforce lowly position, e.g. in the case of self-pitying blacks [Roots, mun, Roots, let's all kneel when we should be playing football].

And these other ones -  the white, Woke left - they just perpetuate the black man’s misery, those self-inflicted chains and at the same time, inflict damage on society as a whole - taxes, prices, disorder ... lost Euro finals.

Conversely, I’ve seen, over and over, compassion at ground level from those not particularly noted for it, I’ve experienced it personally in real terms, not in high-sounding words, and don’t dare suggest to the face that he or she is soft, as he or she can’t psychologically handle it, it’s embarrassing.  Yet look at such a person’s overall direction and concerns, look at the fruits, decide if any benefit would accrue for humans if his/her gruff rules were in place.

And that’s the difference. We all virtue signal to a point, but the Woke turn it into an artform.  Is that any better than those true psycho monsters on both left and RINO right?  In terms of net effect, entirely misplaced compassion is just as damaging as out-and-out evil, the one enables the other.

How did Southgate help the career of the poor sods he virtue-signalled in a Hultgreen-Curie way?  Answer is he did not in the least - he created a debacle.
