When Will Priti Get A Grip..?

The Home Office is in the process of drawing up a new hate crimes strategy that aims to 'increase the reporting of all forms of hate crime', including those relating to gender identity.
The plans are being developed despite a court ruling last year, which ordered police to stop recording gender-critical views as non-crime hate incidents, which are declarations of wrongdoing added to someone's criminal record.

This is a department at war with itself. You cannot on the one hand have the law courts refusing you their backing, yet civil servants blindly carrying on with attempting to enforce the impossible demands of a handful of activists.

What's the Home Secretary doing about it?

But free-speech campaigners fear the new drive could see comedians criminalised for telling jokes, particularly about the rise of transgender ideology.
The move comes after Gervais, creator of The Office, angered Twitter's 'woke' brigade following the broadcast of his new Netflix special, SuperNature, which mocks cancel culture with jokes about trans people, Hitler and AIDS.

It appears to be...nothing.

Under the new strategy being developed by the Government, members of the public could be allowed to register an official complaint about his routine.

And we know, given the opportunity, they will.

Last night, the Home Office Minister Rachel Maclean insisted the move was positive. She said: 'Increases in police-recorded hate crime have been driven by improvements in crime recording, better identification of what constitutes a hate crime and increased victim willingness to come forward.
'This is positive and reflects the hard work that has gone in to ensuring police can understand the scale of the challenge, and that victims get the support they need.'

Rein in this idiot, Boris and Priti, or lose yet more votes. It should be another no-brainer, as DumbJon points out. Why aren't you doing it?

Anniversaries

Yesterday, the 6th June, was an auspicious day, in many, many ways. We had completed the acclamation of our Monarch, Elizabeth the Second, on the 70th anniversary of her coronation as Queen. Even as the Leftie-liberals tried to spew their distaste at the very presence of this amazing Lady: on the Mall, the Palace forecourt, and in homes and parties across our Nation; the great British Public showed their liking and admiration for a woman whose total life has been dedicated to their service.

Elizabeth R.

It was also the 76th Anniversary of what General (later President) Dwight Eisenhower broadcast to the 150,000 troops marshalled on the ships, aircraft and embarkation beaches of Southern England in June 1944, “You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. The tide has turned,” he told them. “The free men of the world are marching together to victory. Good luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.” Those words were the overture to the greatest invasion fleet ever assembled, as they began the journey which ended 11 months later with the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany.

With the demise of the Soviet Union in December 1991, the West began to relax, the real enemies had disappeared, or so everyone thought. The rise of the States who broadcast their membership of the Atom Bomb, struck many chords in the West’s security and defense departments, but even with those events came the realisation that the MAD doctrine still applied, that of course being Mutual Assured Destruction. Even the historic enemies of India and Pakistan knew and accepted that possession does not necessarily means its use, which is why those old hatreds are curbed with reality. When even the tinpot, creaking stupidity which is North Korea has to accept that they may have that weaponry, but if they fire those missiles once, the whole country will disappear about five minutes later, and emerge, reformed into a large, irradiated parking area.

Everyone knows that Iran is near the uranium strength necessary to achieve fission, which means that the Mullahs’ time may be abruptly ended, as Israel knows that you cannot argue with a religious maniac, but that, happily is in the future.

But the last anniversary is also the saddest, because it signalled the 100 days after Vlad Putin’s Russia began the invasion of Ukraine, battering the eastern cities and towns with massed artillery just as they did in Syria. The !944 invasion was the free Allies marching to strike down the Nazi Empire; the invasion today is based upon a lie, there may be some right-wing elements in the Ukraine, but the Ukraine army posed no invasion threat to Russia. The military help from the West may help, but nothing can really compete with the massed artillery of Russia, because ‘Quantity has a Quality’ all of its own.

The Refugee Lovers Have Blood On Their Hands Again...

A man who killed a woman in a head-on car smash in Stockport, Cheshire, while he was using a mobile phone has been jailed for five years today.
Mohammed Javadpour, 53, was distracted with his device when he failed to spot a narrow blind bend at 8.30pm on November 12, 2019.
He veered into the wrong side of the road and ploughed straight into Elayne Goodwin's Vauxhall car.
As Miss Goodwin, 56, lay dying in the wreckage of her vehicle and police tended to her at the scene, Javadpour used the smart phone to make contact with a friend and arranged for the device to be taken away.

We aren't told if the 'friend' was charged with anything. Or why the police allowed this piece of shit to meet up with them, rather than being in handcuffs in the back of a police car...

The phone has never been recovered.

What a shocker.

Javadpour, from Woodford, Stockport, had previous convictions for driving while disqualified, having no insurance and possessing fake motoring documents with intent to deceive.
He initially blamed Miss Goodwin for the crash before blaming the fictitious driver of a third mystery car which he claimed had fled the scene.
Later, when shown a copy of an independent accident report proving he was in fact to blame, Javanpour claimed to not understand his legal advice.
Eh? How would that ever work?

Well, Reader, maybe because he's a refugee from Iran. I see no mention here of the revocation of that status.

Why not?

On the Bodger no confidence this afternoon

I'm in two minds on Bodger.  It's a "bad and badder" situation.  All in parlmt, the lot of em, are traitors to the nation and I include Peter Bone et al, as they still sat obediently accepting their masters' largesse instead of creating a stink.

There's also a "be careful what you wish for" situation.  Yes, Carriebojo is bad as PM but her/his own incompetence can be a saving grace at times.  Evil jackals like Gove and Truss would have us arrested and in the gulag toute suite, not a doubt of it, just as we'd like to see them on the gibbet with Bliar [after due process of course].

There is no doubt that even though we have no Brexit, it's a May/Carriebojo con, what would follow would be official reintegration, by another name, which is a bit like fighting over the deckchairs on the Titanic.

What we do know is that the worst choices for PM, from a people's point of view, would be Gove the Evil, Truss, then anything Labour or Libdum.

The Climate Movement’s Lies, and how they may be Stopped

I am, by profession, an Engineer. I can look back over four decades of achievement, because I was a tiny cog in the mighty gear wheel which is the Engineering profession. We make things work, we know how to build or repair things, whether it is static, like a building or a power station: or moving, like a train or a jet plane; we produce order out of mayhem; without Engineers, of many types and calibres, this modern world would not exist. Engineers are inventors and dreamers, which is why British history books are chock full of dreamers who saw their dreams come to reality.

But there has been another side to my life; I am an author. I have written eight books. Yes, I confess that I am also one of the many unsuccessful British authors. Maybe I was unlucky enough not to find an agent who would push publishers to accept and print my works; maybe I just wasn’t good enough. But I gave it a try, and enjoyed the building of my books, which are laced with a fair leavening of my own political ideals.

But to be an author, successful or otherwise, means that you have an active imagination, and be receptive to outlandish theories and ideas, because that, in my own mind at least, is how I formed the plotlines and characters of my books. I tell you this because I heard a truly outlandish theory narrated via a TV news broadcast, and, after considering all the intricacies of that theory; I just reckon the man may have a point.

But before I speak of that theory, let me expand just a little as to outlandish theories, and how they actually come to be. The 2016 American Elections were supposed to be totally unnecessary. Hillary Clinton was supposed to have the whole election already wrapped up, with the rag-tag Republicans whom placed their names in nomination accused of wasting their cash, and everyone’s time. But a name came forward, a complete outsider; but an billionaire outsider who has a great deal of cash to fund his own campaign, and that was how Donald J. Trump came into the public consciousness in America. The mainstream Republicans disliked him because he wasn’t one of the anointed, wasn’t a political figure who had worked the lunches and rubber chicken dinners for years; he owed nothing to any political group because he had never bothered. Up to the very minute that the television pundits saw their worst nightmares come to pass, as Hilary was roundly and legally beaten in the Electoral College votes, no-one in the Democratic Party and a fair few in the Republicans had given Trump a sideways glance, never mind a clear and concise consideration.

So a cabal of plotters, high and low, Federal-based and business, accessed all their contacts, and decided that, okay, Trump had won, but he couldn’t be allowed to run and win again. So the plotters, inclusive of top Federal officials and Democrat Party activists concocted and tried twice for an Senate Impeachment of President Donald Trump. But the Republican Party in the Senate, despite not really liking their new President, stood firm and twice defeated the Democratic Party plotters. With the disreputable exception of Mitt Romney, who earned his title of RINO that day. So the plotters resolved to ‘FIX’ the Election. Trump nearly won against Sleepy Joe Biden, but, because the mainstream media and biased and partisan Judges refused to cover or acknowledge  the evidence of corruption exposed by investigators, no States’ elections have been overturned.

I now turn to the theory I spoke about earlier. Imagine a country in which a vast change in the manner in which we live was pushed through with virtually no discussion, no anguished speeches in either Parliament or Media, no acceptance of any opinion or belief that the change was not needed, or that the so-called science which was driving this vast change was, to say the least, biased in favour of those who would make vast amounts of cash from the changes. I talk about the garbage which goes under the variously-named Global Warming, or Climate Change, or more simply and truthfully the ‘Tax the Plebs / Proles Until They Squeak’ Policies, so that the rich get richer from the massive subsidies paid for ‘Renewables; such as wind and solar farms, and the poor get both poorer and colder, because the Plebs and Proles cannot utilise gas boilers for heating, and they cannot use petrol or diesel cars because of the so-called warming effect upon the Planet thorough the production of Carbon Dioxide. If they choose an EV, an Electric Vehicle,  they won’t be able to charge it away from their home, because the bloody charging infrastructure just doesn’t exist outside of London.

The solution? Far beit from me to advise anyone how to cast their vote, but just examine how these things came about. It was Labour’s Tony Blair who brought in the infamous Climate Change Act, which stated that all Green policies had to make possible British achieving Net Zero in growth of Carbon Dioxide by 2050, despite the cost of Billions to the average taxpayer. The demolition of modern and completely viable coal-fired power stations commenced, despite there being decades of use left for those stations. The advance of the awful pollution of windfarms was commenced, with every manufacturer and Grid Supplier being paid massive subsidies just som that the various Governments and political leaders could state, with straight faces, that it was all to the common good: despite the total of CO2 being generated in Britain being just One Percent of the total, with China being responsible for some forty-two percent of worldwide CO2, and of course building ten to twenty more coal-fired power stations as I write.

It was the Conservatives who continued on with the Climate Farce, allowing the building of ever more wind farms, despite the ever-fickle nature of the bloody winds. Our present lying Prime Minister, well under the steely thumb of his bloody Greenie wife Carrie, swept Gt. Britain into ever more policies and actions towards the totally foolish Net Zero policies, probaly because he is either totally pussy-whipped, or a true fucking believer.

I do hope that there is a Confidence Vote, and the chances of getting aTory leader who can reverse some of not most of these ruinous policies are slim to slimmer: but we, and I, can only hope that someone sees sense in Westminster, before our economy goes into freefall because the charging points needed to energise the battery driven trucks and cars are not even planned, never mind budgeted for. Maybe we could spur Richard Tice and his Reform Party to step up and issue a call to arms, but it is a forlorn hope!

Platinum Jubilee

Pretty thing, wasn't she, the young Princess Elizabeth, turning Queen of this vast but decaying realm?  I recall those days, watching her motorcade and running towards the carriage until scooped up by one of the constabulary in those Z Car days when plod were respected by most.

Just wanted to have a chat with her, maybe a cuddle.

Nicer to recall those days of hope and glory than to dwell on these days of hell now under the Red Tories.  The spirit was different, there was probably genuine love for her across the empire and it might even be fair to say that she did not ruin it herself ... it was the appalling progeny and grandprogeny, esp. Airmiles and the Hewitt lookalike who ruined the show.

As our Julia said, paraphrasing her a bit - well 70 years is 70 years and she is our monarch.

Yes.  Still.

This Jubilee thing tomorrow

Key elements in Laura Perrins's take on that Jubilee tomorrow:

#   I am sorry to admit that I have just about reached my limit when it comes to the Union Jack bunting and flags.

#  I’ve had enough. May I ask exactly what we are celebrating when it comes to the Platinum Jubilee?

#  The technical part I understand. However, given the current state of the country, I am not sure there is much to celebrate.

#  Does this make me a killjoy? Perhaps the cheerleaders are correct and we should all party like a Downing Street clubber during lockdown 2020.

#  I will attend my local Jubilee street party because I don’t want to be a party-pooper, I have children and I believe in family and community. But deep down, deep down, you have to admit it is all a bit bonkers.

#  [T]he twilight years of her reign ... see us staring into a very bleak future of open borders, ruinous Net Zero policies, an energy crisis and a cost-of-lockdown crisis.

#  [T]he Chancellor spent more on the cost of living in a single afternoon than his party once promised to spend over five years on everything.’ The government has no mandate for this kind of spending.

#  Then there is the problem of open borders. The sky-high level of immigration is even being highlighted in the Times.

Laura admits that, being Irish, though hardly Fenian, she sees Blighty through a different lens.  For those of us for whom this is our monarch for better or worse ... well ... I'm a bit at a loss what to celebrate.  Julia and I were trying to work out an appropriate response tomorrow, it's down to me to post something ... anything ... to mark the occasion ... by the way, her regular post will appear on Monday and she was thinking whether to run something at Ambush Predator tomorrow.

The point I suppose I'm making is that ... well let's put it this way ... there'll be people at those street parties ... karens ... who were perfectly happy to see the vax refuseniks excluded from public life or even incarcerated or executed, for their own stupid [as it turned out] reasons ... so, are the 30% or whatever it is now refuseniks to go into the streets, deliriously happy, join hands with those who would still rather see govt incarcerate us ... and all sing kumbaya?

Eff that.  There is no closure in this country, no leadership, just a gaping wound.  And if the karens start this more patriotic than thou c**p, I'd ask just how patriotic it is for a govt to cravenly cave in and sell the UK to Schwab, straight after we supposedly extricated ourselves from under the EU communist yoke.

Better this post goes up Thursday rather than on the actual day.  Unlike the karens who wish to wreck our lives and wreck the country, I've no desire to wreck their festive inanities tomorrow.  Should anyone post eulogies on the monarch ... fine ... well done ... verily you have your reward for ignoring reality.  Wonder how the groomed and raped kids will feel tomorrow about the celebrations, the care home victims et al?

Have a wonderful Friday tomorrow, all.

Platinum report: Devon crime capital Torquay

CrimeRate says

"Torquay is the most dangerous medium-sized town in Devon, and is the second most dangerous overall out of Devon's 430 towns, villages, and cities.

"The overall crime rate in Torquay in 2020 was 101 crimes per 1,000 people. This compares poorly to Devon's overall crime rate, coming in 49% higher than the Devon rate of 51 per 1,000 residents."

The most common crimes in Torquay are violence and sexual offences, with 2,417 offences during 2020, giving a crime rate of 47. This is 7 per cent lower than 2019's figure of 2,579 offences and a difference of 3.18 from 2019's crime rate of 51.

Torquay's least common crime is bicycle theft, with 26 offences recorded in 2020, an increase of 23 per cent from 2019's figure of 20 crimes.
Hmmmm, I'd like to see the ethnic stats for Torquay and surrounds. Also from Devon Live:
Torquay is the place where the chav culture originated. The people who are lucky to escape the ghetto often find themselves struggling in the real world outside of Torquay. 15 Dec 2017

Do British seaside resorts attract the dregs of society?

https://unherd.com/2019/04/why-lifes-no-beach-by-the-seaside/

The donkey rides, carousels and pink sticks of rock hide a multitude of problems. In Blackpool, a process of ‘regeneration’ has started, in an attempt to drag the town into the 21stcentury. The plan, according to locals, is to give Blackpool a “dynamic feel”. Hundreds of millions of pounds has been spent jazzing up the promenade along the famous ‘golden mile’.

White light in gaudy surrounds ... right, gotcha.  I also read that Britain's seaside towns will have to "diversify".  Ah, compound the problem, eh?

Aren't Schools Already Little Activist Factories..?

...decolonising the curriculum isn’t about burning copies of Macbeth, or chucking Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations in the bin. It’s not even about only studying writers from marginalised identities.
Says who? Why, says Nadeine Asbali, a secondary school teacher in London. And I guess she should know, eh, Reader?
As a mixed-race English teacher who believes strongly in diversifying the English syllabus, for me, it’s about re-examining the lens through which we view canonical texts in the first place – shifting it to become more critical, more aware of the systemic forces at play both within and around a text.
So much of Shakespeare is about power: who holds it and who doesn’t and why.

I wonder who it is that doesn't, in the gospel according to Nadeine?

Decolonising the study of Shakespeare is to take these questions one step further, removing them from the text and applying them to the world around us. To teach students, through literature, to challenge the status quo.

What..?

Call me a biased English teacher, but literature is the perfect medium for this.

I really don't need to call you anything, do I? You're doing a fine job there all by yourself...

Unless you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to put into words how it feels to meet yourself in a book for the first time.

That's not why people read books, is it, Nadeine? Not ordinary people, anyway.

I want to read about international spies, buccaneers on the high seas, daring spaceship pilots, FBI agents catching killers... I don't want to read about a middle aged middle class woman going to work in an office every day.

The first time I did, I was an A-level student faced with Othello, whose contested “Moorish” background was the closest to my north African heritage I’d ever encountered on the page. And who did I meet? A man whose violence was likened to a wild beast and whose race rendered him a savage, a danger to white women.

Did...did you get to the end of the play, Nadeine? Because, ummm, no spoilers, but...
